DHARGYEY BUDDHIST CENTRE: 22 Royal Terrace, Dunedin
In April 2016 we welcomed the venerable Geshe Lobsang Dhonyoe as the new Scriptural Master of Dhargyey Buddhist Centre and we now invite everyone in Dunedin to come to his very warm teachings with great insight into the roots of spiritual practice for all people.
Buddhist practice focuses on the perfection of generosity – one of six primary virtues – so we have structured the Centre to promote this virtue. There is no charge for the teachings and they are open to the public.
The general programme is as follows:
SUNDAYS, 11am -12.00pm
- Sunday classes will provide a general overview of the Buddhist world view, alongside meditation instruction and Q&A sessions.
MONDAYS & THURSDAYS, 7.30–9.00pm
On Monday and Thursday nights,Geshe-la will teach Lama Tsong Khapa guru-yoga via the text Ganden Lha Gyema, The Hundred Deities of the Land of Joy. Lama Tsongkhapa (1357-1419) was one of Tibet’s greatest Buddhist scholars and yogis, and the founder of the Gelug tradition. This short text provides a great foundation for a daily meditation practice.Teachings include an explanation of the short text, meditation instruction and Q&A sessions.
