Mondays Lorig – Mind and Awareness
Lorig ‘Mind and Awareness’ is sometimes described as a text on Buddhist Cognitive Psycology. This very technical text is relevant to Buddhists and non Buddhists alike however it is a challenging text which requires real study to appreciate.
2009 06 11 Mandala offering explained
This recording outlines what is involved in formally becoming a Buddhist. The process of taking refuge is the first step on the path of accepting the responsibilities necessary to achieve Buddha-hood. It is from this basis that all other levels of commitments and vows are derived. The teaching was given at Dhargyey Buddhist Centre in November 2008 by Ven. Geshe Nyima Dorjee. Refuge is a precursor to the bi-monthly practise of taking One Day Mahayana Precepts- which are generally offered four times a year by the lama at D.B.C. on the Buddha days.
In mid April 2009, Ven Geshe Nyima Dorjee gave a discourse on the Venerable Jamgon Lama Tsongkhapa’s much prized text Three Principal Aspects of the Path. The first day dealt exclusively with renunciation, the second day summarises the first day and then moves on to elucidate the development of Bodhicitta- developing universal responsibility for attaining the state of a Buddha for the sake of all sentient beings throughout space. The last day also summarises the previous days and then discusses the "emptiness"; pointing out the mistaken ideas we have about the nature of our "Self" and the intrinsic nature of all things.
